Know of any decent network scanners for pocket PC that can actually tell me the network names, PC names, and network shares? I have one now but all it can pull up is IP addresses. Im looking for a pocket PC version of Look@LAN.

Nope. In fact, you need to turn on wireless.

Not always.

I found (at least at my house) it picks up the distance relatively well (remember, distance is not necessarily a straight line). The problem I had was it pointed the complete wrong way for my wireless router. That probably is something to remember anyway ... how do you know the signal you're picking up is directly in front of you, and not bouncing off of something directly in front of you?

But as I got closer to my router, the distance to the network on the screen got closer.

There's no directionality to WiFi as far as the PPC is concerned. Just a strength of signal.

I thought the same thing, but as I rotated my Axim (yaw, pitch, and roll ... for a lack of better descriptors), the direction of my router corresponded.

I can't say I can explain it, I can only observe and wonder.

No, but some people will disable the connection notification pop-up screens in windows mobile because they can get annoying. I use wififofum.

Also a user of WiFiFoFum. For me, its like im looking at a mirror image(the position of the stuff is backwards) its wierd how it even knows where the stuff is.

That's more or less what I see, but it may not be exact. It's darn close.

What really throws me is I don't see how it can tell direction, but I have no better explanation for why some networks overlap each other's names.
