x50 Help? Won't power on.
Hi all,

I hope you could help me.
I recently received a Axim X50 off mjy Dad's friend.
However i am having trouble with it.
The battery is fully charged (Used battery port on back of docking station.), and the backup battery is at "normal" status.
However, i can turn it on when it is in the cradle, however once i take it out of the cradle, i am unable power it up.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Have an x51v so I'll guess. Check the settings/power/. Check those settings it might be one of those.

Is it really off or is the backlight set to full dim? Try setting the backlight while on the cradle to see if on battery it is fully down, and if so, set it up some.

It is actualy off.
No lights at all while out of the cradle.

Tried two different batteries. Both fully charged.

What should the settings be in the power settings?

Go to Start > Settings > System (tab) > Power (icon)

My settings are:
  • Advanced Tab - On battery power: Turn off device if not used for (3 minutes) is checked. The "on external power option" is unchecked.
  • Power On Tab - both options checked
  • Processor Tab - set to Auto
Hope this helps

Did it ever work? Do you feel comfortable doing a hard reset? (hold down the power button on front while hitting the reset button on the back then follow the directions on the screen) When you change the battery make sure that the pins inside the back didn't somehow get bent. If all of that doesn't help you may have a bad pda. PPCtechs might be able to help if you wanted to spend money on it but you can find x51v's on line for under $200 now.

If you don't have any success, try looking for just the motherboard to an x51v. Like on ebay, or here on the classified forum.

You're screen isn't causing this power problem, so you'll save money by replacing only the broken parts.

If you have trouble finding 51v mobo, you could use a 50v mobo. Screen will fit fine, and you'll be better off with that than nothing!

Having said that, check with the repair depot from the previous post to have all options fully detailed.

Yes it did work. But one day it just stopped working. They brought a new replacement battery, which did nothing That is why i got it.
I have done a Hard reset, which did nothing. I also get an intermitant problem with it not turning on in the cradle.
