Dell Axim x51v LOCKED forever?
Hello.

Ive got a hardware problem:
I cant unlock my Axim. The button on the left side of the Axim doesnt work any more. I can push it up and down as often as I want but nothing happens. The Axim stays locked. It seems to me that it is a brocken keylockbutton.

Does anybody can help me?
Can I repair it by opening the Axim on my own?

greets
Max

Have you tried a hard reset of the system?

Yes. The hard reset works perfectly. System restart. But then its the same problem: the keys are locked, also the touchscreen, no reaction.

The button of the keylock has no resistance any more. I can move it up and down easily.

It cant be that the complete PDA is waste only because of this one button.

## sorry for my english, my bavarian is much better

There is a thread somewhere about how to fix the lock switch.
I'll have a look and see if I can find it and post back if I do.
From memory, I think you can just open it up and reset the switch into the correct position.

I was about to say the same, only with my own GP2X-f200 (which set its self on fire due to overclocking, and Im not joking!)- whn you open it you should find that the botton and what looks like a small metal clicker are out of sync- put them back in- and there you go. Well that what happened for me at least.

Can't you prise the switch head off with a knife, and use the tip of said knife to move the switch down? (and shouldn't this be in the X51 Hardware Troubles area?)

Yes, you're right. This should be in x51-area. Sorry.
@ Mod: please move

The knife idea sounds pretty good. I'll post some pictures soon.

But first i'll wait if Box can find this thread how to fix the lock switch.

@EvilTree: Do you think I can open it without a tutorial?

Thank you very much.

there are instructions to open the x50 here (x51 should be the same): Among the circuits of an Axim X50v - Mobile Technology I think i would try that first before 'prying the head off with a knife' since that would definately ruin the switch permanently.

Unbelievable but true. My Axim is running again.

Ive opend the Axim yesterday. On the first view I couldnt see something was broken. But then: Something out of plastic and about 0.5mm small fall down on the table. This was the broken keylockswitch.
No chance to repair this part with glue, its too small.

So what to do now? I noticed that it is possible to switch the broke keylock with a screwdriver manual. (it is the little silver box; you cant miss it)

Thats it. The keylockswitch still doesnt work but this time my Axim is not locked

Thank you for your help!!!! Youre great.

Sorry, but I dont have any photos. My neighbour helped me and so I forgot it.

Glad to hear you got it working - I was hoping for a good resolution to this.
I would just leave the lockswitch as is. At least you can lock it with a tool, maybe the stylus.

It worked for me too!
Hi everyone,
I was experiencing the exact same problem as delmax with my Dell Axim 50v. I decide to try out the "knife solution" and amazingly it worked! I simple pried off the switch's cover and removed all the contents of the switch box. Now my PDA cannot be locked anymore but that is OK with me.

I attached a picture of the switch all taken apart. I'm pointing to the switch box with my screwdriver.

I'm so glad I found this forum. :-)
