A few questions
I have a few questons.

Does the 200 series have any GPS utilities or support built in for GPS receivers when they are connected to the unit?

Are there any full programs that come with it on the CD?

I thought I saw on a post that there was no built in backup utility???

I am using Sprite and ewallet on my Axim X5 WM2003. Do you think these versions would work on the 200 or would I need to updgrade to a newer version?

thanks

It has a utility similar to GPSGate that will allow more than one application to use the GPS data at a time, but nothing else. Sprite has a newer version with additional features for WM5/6. ewallet ran just fine for me on my 210.

If you are using the latest version (6.0) of eWallet, it should work great on any of the 200 series iPAQs. If you are using an older version it will probably still run fine...the older versions of eWallet just aren't optimized for the latest versions of the Windows Mobile OS.

You will need Sprite Backup 6 for OS6.

well, I just ordered one. My first step is to get a screen protetcor. This may sound kind of lame compared to all the screen protector brands out there, but I have always used the fellowes brand. It works for me. Plus I have the ones that you trim to fit screen size. I will at least use this to start anyway.

Here is my short list
-use my exising 1 GB SD /4 GB CF card.
-install ewallet, beeline gps, Holux CF GPS driver, worldmate

Some more questions.
-I still use avantgo. Does this still come installed. If not, I will not be installing it

-I still use active sync 3.7 (build 3083) because of the wireless sync. Do I need to upgrade this in order to use the new ipaq. If so, how do I install the new one so I can still sync with the other device I have and so it shows the programs installed.

-I will need to get a backup utility. I use sprite now but from what I read, I need to get an updated version.

-I have two plugs that go into the wall and car that have a plug for the usb. I have used this on my X5 and my original ipod shuffle. Can I use this with the usb cable to charge the 210. I have been reading that the usb charges slow, I think as it relates to being plugged into the pc. If I can, I will not need to purchase this again.

I have XP on my pc. what is better. the most recent version of activesync or just use WMDC in its place?

thanks for all your help and comments.

Nope, not installed on mine.

Download version 4.5 from Microsoft here. You won't be able to sync using WiFi, but you can with BT.

Yep, you'll need to update to version 6 to work with WM6. It has a few bugs yet (password causes an error, and a few other quirks) but it basically works.

The limit on charging from USB is internal to the 21x, and is pretty limited, even if you had a beefy wall-wart to provide the power. You do get a little fan-shaped adapter that has a barrel connector at one end and a 24-pin connector on the other that can use higher amperage to charge the battery faster. The wall-warts you have may be able to be reused, if they provide 5V and 200mA, but the charging rate will be really slow. I recycled my X50v wall wart and car adapters, with the barrel connector that I used with the fan-connector for the Ax with the fan connector for the HP and it's working well everywhere.

Only Activesync works on XP. WMDC is, I am pretty sure, just for Vista.

Keep us posted about how your CF goes. Read the "Battery issue" thread and reply in there when you get the chance, several users -me included- reported a HIGH drainage of battery when a CF card is inserted, no matter how much you use it, or if the 214 is turned on or off, and no matter even if the "cf power" in the power settings is disabled.

Typical sign is a loss of charge of 12-13% during the night when the pocketpc is in suspended mode, and an overal battery life in normal use of a couple days. As soon as you leave the pocketpc without any CF inserted, the battery life goes to normal, maximum 4% drainage during the night.

How do I install the new version of a/s. Do I uninstall the existing one and then instal new one or do I overwrite. How do my sync settings stay inplace on my current axim also when I do this. Thanks

I just installed over the old version. Seemed to work just fine.
