Emu98CE
Hello,

I recently downloaded Emu98CE and some ROM files of HP calculators, which are included in the installation package. However, the program quit automatically when I run it. What's the problem? Also, I'm not sure what you should do with the ROM files. Do you need to own a HP calculator?

Careful with ROM questions. Since most are illegal to own this topic can get a thread closed quickly.

I read the license agreement of the software and I think it is OK to share it. Here is part of the contents:

"This package contains images of the ROMs. These files are copyrighted by
HP. HP recently change the usage license for the rom of its graphical calculators. Now, the ROMs can be used even if you are not the owner of a real HP calculator. THIS USAGE MUST BE WITHOUT LUCRATIVE PURPOUSES. Contact HP to get more information about the license of usage of these roms.
These software is GNU software and it haven't any charges. So, these ROMS are used with no lucrative purpose."

I may be wrong, but you can check out the software yourself here. Let me know if I did something wrong.

P.S. I'm only trying to get some help with the installation!

I'm trying to emulate 48. However, the program just shut down automatically everytime I run it.

Hewlett Packard did release the roms for a number of their calculator roms to the public, and the hp48 is one of the ones they released. The link you provided was for a 2.5mg download so I didn't bother checking it out. I know that the original version of emu48 didn't work well with the 2003 os. I sugest that you search the following web site for the most recent version: http://www.hpcalc.org/
I have it running fine on my iPaq and if you have more problems post them here and I will try to help. But before you go any farther check and see that your Pocket PC's processor type is supported.

The link I provided actually include Emu48CE (the emulation program, the number "48" isn't related to anything) and ROM files of HP38G, HP38G, HP48GX, and HP49G. The problem I have now is that I couldn't even run the emulation program. Emu48CE is supposed to be able to emulate those calculators without problem. Well, I will try to find out whether I got the correct version.

Thanks!

Actually it does mean something, the original program was only an emulator for the hp48, but the developer later added support for the 38, 40 and 49 (it also supports the 48G, GX and SX)

The link I provided has just about every version of the emulation program made including a fixed version of the emu for pocket pc, many klm scripts and rom images http://www.hpcalc.org/

It is amazing, isn't it that you can run a full emulator like this in your pocket pc. If you haven't already I would recommend that you get the one for your desktop pc also, it has a few less limitations and displays much nicer overall. Even with the limitations I can run programs which were installed on rom cards on the Pocket pc emulator, the screenshot shows emu48 running a tds cogo card image.

It is very impressive indeed. Yeah, I going to check out the desktop version too. Though, do you know any others ROMS that HP has released into public for free that can be emulate on POCKET PC?

I am not sure if any others have been released, though I believe that the hp41 has been. You can find many emulators for the 41, one which works on the Pocket PC. There are some simulators out there also, you can get a simulator of the 10b 12c 15c and 16c by Lygea software, and there is a free simulator of the 16c. Free 42 has been released for windows linux and palm and is going to be released for pocket pc in the future.

I’ve just published my FULL roundup & tutorial on emulating HP’s calculators at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/emula...ws-mobile.html - don’t forget to check it out.

Also note that I’ve previously published a FULL roundup & tutorial on using TI’s calculators at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/appli...ws-mobile.html - it’s also worth checking out.

(Sorry for the flood – I want all interested parties to take note of these articles. They’re well worth reading, I think.)
